Calculating and reporting energy use with EDGAR and GEMTool

EDGAR and GEMTool are useful electronic tools to help you meet government energy reporting requirements each year.

Government departments and agencies are required to collect information for each facility they operate on

• total energy use
  
• associated greenhouse gas emissions
• staff numbers
• floor areas.

Data must be provided annually, including the 1999/2000 baseline year.

Report annual energy use and floor area using the web-based reporting tool EDGAR (Energy Data Gathering and Reporting). Annual agency data is to be reported into EDGAR by 30 September each year.

Use the electronic energy management database GEMTool (Government Energy Managemet Tool) to assemble data and benchmark your facilities.
