Usually initial purchase cost is the prime consideration when you invest in new equipment.

But making a choice solely for this reason can result in monthly overpayments for many years.

This is a particular problem where the capital budget and future operational budgets are treated separately, and can occur with anything from the purchase of a small printer to large building projects.
