Staff awareness campaign

Designing and carrying out an effective staff awareness campaign helps energy managers meet energy reduction targets, lower operating costs, improve workplace comfort and protect the environment.

A comprehensive staff awareness campaign

  • increases understanding about the benefits of energy efficiency
  • makes the link between people's actions and behaviour, energy use and potential savings
  • motivates employees to change the way they use energy
  • reduces energy consumption and saves money.

An effective staff awareness campaign can

  • boost morale with people working together for a common goal
  • contribute to a healthier environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • enhance your department/agency's reputation as a leader in environmental awareness and action.

This is an opportunity to lower your department/agency's energy use and change people's behaviour beyond their work environment.

Culture Sculpture Competition

A template has been provided for use in the competition and as a mechanism for presenting for sign off to deploy your strategy.

Behaviour change planning template Behaviour change planning template (114.00 KB)

This template is not only intended for use in planning and participation in the Behaviour Change Competition; it also provides a guide for you to follow in crafting your ongoing behaviour change programs.

Before you answer each of the questions below, it is highly recommended that you carefully read the tip which corresponds to each numbered question.  These tips will:

  • help ensure that your behaviour change program is as effective as possible;
  • make it significantly easier for you to design the program by offering advice concerning your methodology and strategy; and
  • increase your chances of winning the competition, as we will be assessing your answers based on the information contained in the tips!

Keep in mind that the purpose of this competition is to encourage departments to create behaviour change programs, not infrastructure change programs.  Therefore, the program that you submit should be aiming to encourage or discourage a specific behaviour, not to change infrastructure in the workplace (new printers, new recycling bins etc).
