QuickRate activities and software can be used with Technology students at the CSF Level 6. QuickRate is an educational version of Sustainability Victoria's house energy rating software, FirstRate . The software provides a tool to evaluate the energy efficiency of various house designs. Students compare two simple house designs and learn to use the software to modify designs to improve the energy rating. Data taken from house plans is entered into the software which gives and energy star rating for the house design. Students learn to rate house designs using examples provided but can progress to rating their own house design or home. The set of Energy Advice Brochures is also needed for this activity.

Attached is a Blank Data Sheet and also a House Plan and Data Sheet for House 1 and a House Plan and Data Sheet for House 2, for use with the Curriculum materials.

Please note - QuickRate runs on Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT only. It is not suitable for Macintosh computers.

Quickrate software download

There are two options for running the Quickrate software:

• Click on link: Quickrate - Download to save this program to disk (EXE - 4,755Kb)
• Select where you would like the software to be installed and click 'save'
• Install Quickrate software onto your PC by clicking on qrsi.exe
