Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development - switch off campaign scores big results PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD) held a Switch Off campaign week during October 2005 and saved enough energy to power 19 two-bedroom homes for the entire week.

Staff involved in organising and conducting the campaign included the energy officer, environment working group members and environment champions.

Results from the week-long campaign were measured by collating electricity use data per floor and comparing it with consumption for the previous week.

Floors were measured separately and results showed the greatest energy reduction was 6.3%, followed by 5.5% and 5.2%.

Results were communicated to all staff and they were congratulated for the excellent energy savings.

The Switch Off campaign is a great way to help DIIRD to meet the Government Sustainable Energy Target of 15% reduction in energy consumption levels by June 2006.

All of DIIRD is working together to make it happen!
